Fat-Transfer to Face
Transferring a patient's own fat to revolumize the face into a more youthful appearance has dramatically impacted the results of facial rejuvenation procedures in many patients.

Fat is commonly transferred into the tear-troughs under the eyes, and into sunken cheek areas to create a more round and youthful appearance. The abdomen is most commonly utilized as a donor site, but any site of relative fat excess can be considered (flanks/love handles, thighs, et cetera).

Fat is used as an autologous (coming from one's self) filler as opposed to the shelf-available hyaluronic acid fillers (i.e. Restylane®, Juvederm®). The advantage of fat transfer is that 50-100% of the transferred fat survives as a permanent facial filler. The hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers require repeated injections to maintain the desired effects.
